Finders Keepers… (Bob Dylan and Velvet Underground Cassettes)

23 Jul

What a blast from the past today! My dad came bearing cassettes today, so old boomboxes were resurfaced, and in one of them was a certain Carebears tape that I hadn’t thought of for ages, though at a certain time it was a cold day in Connecticut (I can use that phrase now because of this ridiculous heat wave) that it wouldn’t be played.

But back to the said tapes from my pops, they’re recordings of some Bob Dylan and Velvet Underground concerts from the 60’s and 70’s. Drool. Wipe drool so the electronics don’t die. Move away from the electronics and drool some more.

See, this is how bootlegs are meant to be heard. Not torrented on some sketchy site or illegally downloaded, but passed on from friend to friend, music lover to music lover. Organic.

Speaking of which, if anyone has a copy of White Bear’s “A Tree with Roots” album (the most complete collection of Dylan and The Band’s Basement Tapes including 108 songs), feel free to send it over… ;)

Currently listening to: Ain’t Talkin’ by Bob Dylan, I love the line “walkin’ with a toothache in my heel”
